Figuring Out…

Developing Your Creative Practice fund

Tuesday 20 September 2022, 6-7:30pm

* IMPORTANT: As a mark of respect for HM Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, the workshop will now be taking place on Tuesday 20 September, instead of the original date of Monday 19 September.

We’re pleased to offer our next online workshop to support artists & creatives who are planning an application to Round 15 of Arts Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice (DYCP) programme. Taking place on Tuesday 20 September (6-7:30pm) and led by Mark Devereux, this workshop will address the core questions helping you create a strong application.

As one of the core funders for individual artists, Arts Council England grants can unlock and create important developmental opportunities to help you take your practice and ideas to the next level. The online workshop (via Zoom) will take an in-depth look at the application process for the DYCP programme – dissecting the questions, what they mean and the detail the assessors are looking for.

This workshop is independent from Arts Council England, sharing the knowledge and experience Mark has built from previous successful grant applications.

Making an application to the Developing Your Creative Practice fund is part of our new series of workshops and short courses, Figuring Out… Taking place online and in-person, Mark Devereux Projects will take a deep dive into some of the most fundamental aspects of creating and sustaining an artist career.

We are proud to also include our new Pay It Forward ticket scheme, giving two new options to support artists from low income backgrounds. For further information please click here.

Testimonials

Thanks so much for last night’s DYCP workshop. I found it really helpful, especially regarding my mental blocks around timelines and budgets. Thinking of them as having loops back into the written elements definitely helped. Thanks for the attachments too…” [Previous workshop participant]

“Mark was recommended to me by a colleague who had also enlisted his support for her successful DYCP application. I’d made an unsuccessful attempt to Arts Council England in 2020 and my practice needed financial support after losing all my paid work during Covid that year. I was lucky enough to receive Access Support from ACE to work with Mark on a renewed DYCP application. Mark’s process of working together was clear and precise, we emailed a few times and then during an online meeting he asked me investigative questions. My ideas, ambitions and project thoughts were put succinctly into a written proposal that clearly defined my application for funding. Mark understands the format and complexities of Arts Council proposals, with plenty of additional advice on structuring supporting information and choice of images, but always with his eye on the deadline. The outcome was a success! I’m most grateful for the funding but also for the focus that Mark allowed me to develop during a short period of time. Mark will also be my paid mentor for the duration of my DYCP project, which will provide further clarity and questioning.” [Vicky Price, previous workshop participant, vickyprice.com]
