Nicola Ellis: Stour Valley Arts Residency

Mark Devereux Projects artist Nicola Ellis will be undertaking a residency at Stour Valley Arts from 5-17 August 2014 as part of their Forest Studio programme.

During her residency, Nicola Ellis will explore the surrounding forrest and observe the relationship between the forrest and the timber processing site, dedicating time to writing and producing drawings/paintings in response to the residency site and other sites previously visited.

The research and findings made throughout the residency at Forest Studios will form part of the initial developmental period of my current project ‘Drawing Steel’ (working title), which will culminate in a solo exhibition in Summer 2015. ‘Drawing Steel’ is supported and produced by Mark Devereux Projects.

During her residency at Stour Valley Arts, Nicola Ellis will be writing regular blogs via Mark Devereux Projects’ Twitter and Facebook accounts.

In February 2014, Stour Valley Arts launched Forest Studio, a building located on the edge of King’s Wood (in Challock, Kent) where artists can spend extended periods of time in the forest, and allow the experience of the forest to influence their own artistic practice.
