Housed in the historic Buttermarket, in the very heart of Macclesfield’s town centre, Beneath the Surface promises a rich, multi-layered experience for audiences. Expect to encounter painting, sculpture, moving image, immersive VR, participatory works and installations. The eleven artists boast a diverse mix of visual art practices, showcasing a sample of the breadth and ambition of the region’s creative voices.

Complimenting the exhibition, Mark Devereux will be chairing a special public symposium, where selected artists from MAC will share their experiences of Macc ‘n Chat, establishing Mill Artists Collective and more about the exhibition & individual works. This will be a relaxed event navigating the exhibition space through conversation and questions from Mark and attendees.
